Privacy Policy

Overview
MetaPurge is an image metadata cleaning tool. We are designed around privacy: uploaded images are processed in memory and temporary storage for a single request, then deleted. We do not store your images or the metadata we extract from them.
What we collect
- Pro accounts: email address and a bcrypt-hashed password. We never store plain-text passwords.
- Free tier rate limiting: your IP address and a daily clean count, stored to enforce the 5 cleans/day limit. This is not linked to uploaded images or metadata content.
- Pro subscriptions: Stripe customer ID, subscription ID, and subscription status synced via Stripe webhooks.
- Contact form: name, email, and message content when you submit the contact form.
What we do not collect
- Uploaded image files (beyond transient per-request processing)
- Extracted metadata content (GPS coordinates, EXIF fields, etc.)
- Analytics or advertising tracking pixels
Cookies
We use one functional cookie: metapurge_session, an httpOnly JWT that keeps you logged in to your Pro account. It expires after 30 days or when you log out. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
Third-party services
- Neon — Postgres database hosting (accounts, subscriptions, usage counts)
- Stripe — payment processing for Pro subscriptions
- Resend — delivery of contact form emails
Each provider has its own privacy policy. We share only the minimum data required for each service to function.
Data retention
Account data is retained while your account is active. Usage log entries (IP + daily count) are retained for rate-limiting purposes. You may request account deletion by contacting us — we will remove your user record and associated subscription data.
Your rights
You can request access to or deletion of your account data at any time via the contact form. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you may have additional rights under applicable data protection laws.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes.
